I'm a professional interior designer. So I know what I'm talking about when I say that you should always have a proper rug pad under every rug you own. They make the rug feel cozier under your feet, and keep the rug from wearing down. I really love these pads. They're a really good quality for a great price - especially with free shipping. They cut the size so they fit nicely under a standard area rug, which is nice. It means you don't have to jockey them around so the pad isn't peeking out. Plus, these are actually a better quality than those I've seen at Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. They're similar to local rug merchants'.
We purchased this felt/rubber backed rug liner for our dining room where it gets a lot of traffic. We needed it for our new 8 x 10 area rug. It works great. It is thick enough to be substantial, but thin enough so it works with the thickness of our rug, so you do not trip walking from the tiled kitchen into the dining room. We placed it on the floor, rolled out our rug and slid a very heavy chia closet and table over the new rug and pad. Nothing moved but the china cabinet and table. It was delivered folded up in quarters and then folded, so it did not take up much room till we needed it. Very good price, and the fact that it is a few inches smaller than our rug was a plus, so we did not have to trim any excess. Another Great Offer Stock quality item. I am very happy!
This felt double-sided rug pad is a must for your area rug. One side is felt and the other side is a rubbery or latex type material. Use the side that best suits your rug placement over hard floor or carpeting. The pad adds a nice cushioning to any rug and will protect your floor or under-carpet. I definitely recommend this purchase!
The description of the pad says "dual" felt and for the materials it says : felt. I was vey surprised when it arrived and found a "rubber" type backing on it. Yes, if you want non-slip you need a "grip" type backing, but a large rug with furniture on it isn't going anywhere! I just want something to cushion the rug. Also, I did not realize that when you are talking rug pads, "felt" means "jute felt." It is NOT soft. It's a combination of felt & jute fibers. It feels somewhat like an outside doormat. It scratched my arms when I gripped it to pull it out of the shipping wrapper and I certainly don't want it directly on my new hardwood floors. I'm sure this is a good pad if it is what you're looking for, but if you are looking for cushion only, this might not be for you. I found a pad at another site that is for cushioning only, with the jute felt side to go next to the rug and a soft side to go on the floor. It does cost twice as much, but in the long run will probably be worth it.
Every review of rugs that I read on Great Offer Stock all recommended some kind of pad beneath the rugs. I was skeptical, as I had an area rug before with the "waffle" type rubber pad beneath that ALWAYS shifted and was basically useless in my opinion. Still, I needed several area rugs as I now have a completely tiled/wood floor home and I was concerned about all the rugs shifting and my constantly readjusting them. I can wholeheartedly say these pads do everything they promised: keep the rugs (natural fiber, will dhurrie and plush) in place, and definitely do add a little something extra in terms of feel and comfort under your foot (maybe because the rugs don't shift slightly when you walk on them?). There is a tab for style - - but really the pad doesn't have any style, and in fact, appear thin & cheap, so I rated that neutral. You seriously wouldn't want anything thicker underneath your rugs. Who know s if they'll hold up for decades, but certainly for the first 10 years, these pads are winners. I highly recommend these Superior Dual Felt Rug Pads for any hard surface flooring area.
I always order these rug pads when I have a rug that is a little thin or one that needs to stay in place. It doesn't leave in sticky residue on the floor, adds a nice cushion to my rugs (which makes the rugs "feel" a little more plush and high end) and if you have that stiff backing to rugs that "breaks down" and leaves those white flaky things every where -the felt side grabs the rug and the white stuff stays put and doesn't seen to break down and get everywhere. Great rug pad-wouldn't waste my money on anything less.
When I ordered I expected a cushy rug pad -- and it does provide some cushion, but not a lot. Mostly it's great for versatility! One side has a slightly rough feel to it, which is the side you put down if it's on a carpet. The texture provides grip so it doesn't move around. The other side has a bit of a latex feel to it, which is the non-skid side to put down on wood or other hard surfaces. I had to trim the 9x12 size down to and 8x10, and it was fairly easy to do with kitchen shears.
This is my go-to rug pad. We have hardwood floors throughout our house which requires area rugs in each room. This dual-sided felt rug pad is always my choice. It doesn't slide around on the floor nor does the rug move when on top of the felt. Love it.
This rug pad has a very bad odor. It's not a chemical smell... more like an indistinguishable funk. Also, the "felt" side is very scratchy and feels like it's either made with artificial materials or that the felt is possibly coated. I bought this rug pad because it's thinner than other pads I'd bought before, and I thought this would be useful for cutting it down to size. I was planning on placing the soft felt side down, as I've done with other rug pads, to protect our new hardwood floors (I don't need no-slip protection for this rug, and it's so hard to get a straight answer on which of the plastic-y materials used in rug pads are at risk for damaging your hardwoods). However, the "felt" side isn't soft like I expected, and so I don't trust using it on the new hardwoods. I returned it.
I really like this rug pad. It did have a bit of an odor when first opening the package. Quick delivery was much appreciated! I’m using it over a new laminate floor so rubberized side is down and felt side up. Otherwise it’s to be placed felt side down if placing on top of carpet. Very pleased with the carpet pad. Recommend.
Great thick felt pad for area rugs. Dual sided pad is a nice feel . You won't be disappointed!
This rug pad is felt on one side and a rubbery texture on the other side. It is exactly 1/8” high. It provides a good cushion and traction for my flat weave area rug in my luxury vinyl hard surface floor.
I love the dual sided felt reg pad as it holds the rug exactly where I want it without marring the floor as some pads do. It is a high quality rug pad. It is easy to move if I want to change the position or location of the rug. It also makes the rug much more comfortable for walking on. I highly recommend this product!
Just the right weight to compliment the overall soft cushion factor under the rug. Easy to cut. Don't go for the thin non-slip latex rubbery waffle rug pads. Go for this felt.
Very nice, thick rug pad. It has two sides, a rubber side for hard floors and a softer side if you were placing over carpet, etc. Very impressed with the durability and quality, great for thinner rugs!
I thought that the description of "dual" meant it was felt on both sides of the pad, but it's rubberized on one side, felt on the other. In my case, it did work in my favor. I think the thickness description was a little hard to understand, as I would have picked a thicker pad had I known how thin this is, but it holds the rug in place and provide a little cushion.
This is a very good pad for the price. It has felt on one side and rubberized material on the other, therefore, this product can be used on wood and tile floors as well as carpet. I recommend this item
We put the rubber side against the floor and felt side against the rug. Works extremely well.
I added this to an 8’10” x 12’ rug. I bought the wrong size pad but kept it as part of rug is under furniture and doesn’t need padding. Padding is thin and has a rubber side and a padded side. It keeps it in place and provided minimal padding I needed. Glad I purchased this and definitely recommend if you need a little bit of padding to your rug!
Better quality than the average latex-webbed rug pad. Really elevates the feel of the rug on top.
