It is extremely heavy it comes in four boxes and I was not able to move any one of them because I'm older. I had a professional Carpenter put it together and it took him a good 12 hours over two days it looks beautiful now that it is completed however let me give you one bit of advice do not attach it to the wall until after you have put the bed base into the cabinet base because it is very very very difficult to put the safety screws in from the front I would suggest that you put the outside box together just like the instructions say. get two or three L brackets from the store because they are not included put them into the wall so that the bed is ready to be hooked up to the wall as soon as you have completed putting the bed base into the box this way you can go from behind the box and screw in the safety screws without opening the bed. Then screw in the L brackets into the wall or if you have already screwed them into the wall then you can screw them into the top of the box the bed does not come with a strap to hold in the mattress however I just tucked in my sheets and comforter and it is a very snug fit so when I put the bed up or take it down the mattress does not move there is enough room between the the bed and the wall so that you can put pillows there and it will not interfere when the bed is closed. I have a thin mattress the reason I gave it only four stars is because the bed actually popped out and crashed to the floor when we tried to open the bed to put in the safety screws from the front after the carpenter had put the Springs together. also the handles on the front of the bed are very difficult to put in after you have completed putting the bed portion of the wall bed together. Check out where the holes are for the handles and don't cover those holes with the two horizontal boards that keep the four front doors together I hope the above helps.

Poor Quality and Insanely Difficult Install This thing is a beast. It took my husband and i about 7 hours to install and that was 7 hours filled with cursing and sweating and some grumbling through tears. The instructions take you through a maze of putting the thing together including tightening screws where a screwdriver doesn't fit and artfully holding down a 50 bed JUST ENOUGH to slide your body underneath to attach the handles. It was nuts and we're lucky we survived. After ALL that, it rubs and pops each time we open it. It’s like our carpet is too plush and pushes one of the boards of the wall frame....so now it’s in the way of the bed when I try to open it. Instant anger at the money spent every time I open it and forcefully have to push it down until it POPS. And nothing holds the mattress down. So when I open it, I have to push the mattress down onto the bed. So, I'm going to have to come up with my own hack to solve that little problem. It serves it purposes. I was converting a spare bedroom into an office. This works and now i have an office. And an anger inducing bed that will at least only be opened a few times a year and looks decent enough when it's closed.

Be Prepared! Takes two people and more than a couple of hours to assemble. Be sure to follow the instructions included and use the online video, included with the pictures of the bed, on the Great Offer Stock website. Otherwise, connecting the bed to the upright frame can be a real challenge. If you are installing this over carpet, check to make sure the bed doors clear the bottom cross support when the bed is closed, otherwise the doors will rub on it. I had to screw the bottom cross piece to the floor to prevent rubbing. I suggest overlapping two pieces of VELCRO, attached to the inner bed frame, across the center of the mattress to secure it in place. Not sure yet if the laminate material is strong enough to sustain regular use over a long period of time.

Good aesthetics, poor quality Overall I'm pleased with the way this bed looks and functions. However, it was very difficult to put together and I'm usually very good at putting things together. It's nearly impossible for one person to put this bed together, but after a lot of struggling I was able to wrestle it into place by myself. The kit only comes with 3 screws to anchor the bed to the wall, which are not enough. The first time I put the screws in and tried to pull the bed down the screws pulled completely out of the stud in the wall. I then bought extra cabinet screws and anchored it using 8 screws which held well. But now there all holes in the finished wood where the original screws were. I am disappointed with the quality of the bed, it seems for the price of this bed you'd get something more sturdy than plywood. I'm sort of worried that the next time I have to move this bed will not survive the move. On the good side, greatofferstock.com offered the best price on this bed that I could I find.

Yes you need to attach to the wall. The instructions are in the smallest box along with hardware and hinge mechanism. They provide 3 very long wood screws to connect the frame to the wall stud with two at the top and one at the bottom. Since I had metal studs I used the Toggler system.
