    Yes, we actually use it in our guest dining room, the rug received so many compliments from all our guests, it's so soft, and the color is majestic!

    I personally would not use it in a dining room. The shag is very deep and a bit difficult to vacuum.

    I probably wouldn't use it in a DR either. Very deep pile, would imagine a little hard to scoot chairs in and out. Also, would imagine it would be very difficult to get out spills or dropping up since it is so thick. Absolutely love it in both our kids bedrooms. Very comfy to lay on and play on.

    This rug is beautiful and very plush. I'm not sure how functional it would be in a dining room if you need to move your chairs around. I don't believe they would slide back at all when getting up or sitting down at he table but for appearances it is striking.

    Unfortunately, I don't know the exact weight either. I bought the 8x10 and I struggled to get it through my front door because I could barely lift it myself. After I got it out of the box - no small task, I had to kick it across the room, because there was no way I could carry it myself. Unfortunately, my cat felt like it was a litter box, and I had to decide to not use it. Which, horribly, meant I had to store it downstairs in a utility closet...I had to get help to move it down there. It's literally like carpet - thick. It's beautiful and exactly what I wanted, but my cat just wouldn't leave it alone and I had to roll it up to the sofa each day to keep her from wanting to pee on it. It was just too much work. Other issue if that it's so thick/plush, my recliner struggled to open over it. There was just no way I was going to pay to ship it back so it was wasted money for me. Maybe one day, I'll be able to try it again.

    The 8 x 10 is pretty heavy. It was all I could do to get it up the stairs! We are super pleased with the quality- so much so that we have 4 of these. The softness under your feet is wonderful- it's a beautiful blend of blues. We have ours on hardwood floors, and they do slip around, so we've ordered the pads to put underneath. The smaller rugs, the 5x7 and the one that is a bit smaller, are of course lighter in weight, but the rug is thick. Hope that helps!

    We haven't had any problems with dye from the rugs, and we have several that were bought at different times. I hope yours was a freak one time thing.

    I have a smaller one of these that I placed in a kids toy closet to prevent big dents in hardwoods. It is not easy to vacuum unless you have a traditional upright carpet vac. Roomba cannot clean it well and neither can my lightweight dyson.
