I always put pads under oriental type rugs, especially when they're on hardwood. This rug is at our ranch where the floors are concrete. I used a good thick pad under this one and it feels really good and is holding up well with lots of traffic from dirty boots, kids and dogs. I think it feels better with a pad and extends the life of the rug.
