It is a beautiful rug and looks very expensive, but it isn't soft. I am a realtor and flip houses, but I have two of these in my personal house. It is extremely high end looking and elegant, but you aren't going to get the feeling you would with a shag rug. But dang it looks great!

I have this same rug in my bedroom, and I love it so much I got this for my living room. It doesn't slide and doesn't need a rug mat - it is super soft on its own- only thing I don't care for is that it takes awhile for it to lay flat without the "hills". I will probably order one more for my guest bedroom at a later time.
