When I unrolled the rug pad, little rubber shavings were falling off all over on my hardwood floors. The rubber is a really low quality and flakes off everywhere, what a mess. Rolled it right back up and now have to go through the trouble of returning it. Took me almost an hour to clean up all the rubber flakes, and couldn't get a lot of it out as it settled down into the cracks on my hardwood floor. Learn from my mistake, do not buy this pad. After this experience, I would not buy any of the Rotell brand rug pads.
I purchased this pad to go with the rug I purchased, and looked for one that wasn't very expensive, frankly. This one has some grip on the back so the rug doesn't slide, and also is thick enough to give the rug some nice padding, comfy enough to lay on the floor, for a change! I would recommend it and definitely buy another one, for the runner I have on my wish list!
Within the product details the Rotel Rug Pad claims "cushioning adds comfort". This is completely misleading. I had intended to put this rug pad under a quality, oriental rug that sits upon a tile floor. It felt as though I was walking directly on the tile. There is no cushioning to this rug pad. Unfortunately, with this product you get what you pay for... mine is going back.
Love this rug pad. I was skeptical when ordering because I had not bought this type of rug pad previously. I have purchased several different types in the past and never found one I was happy with. The Rotell rug pad works very well; one side is rubber and the other side is felt. The rubber side prevents the rug from slipping or bunching up on hardwood floors. The felt side fits next to the bottom of the rug. I have been well pleased. Even my husband commented on how well the pad works. It is the best one we have ever purchased. And the price is affordable. I will purchase more of these when needed.
I scoured rug pads looking for an all felt pad. This one is described as being 100% felt with a non skid pad on one side. Okay! We didn't want the non stick pad on the hardwood floor side but found the felt side of the pad was more likely to scratch the hardwood floor than the backing of the rug itself. We wanted felt because the last rubberized pad we had left permanent marks on the floor. I can't rate it to quality etc as it is not 100% felt and not what I wanted.
I wanted a felt rug pad. What I got was one side felt and one side rubber.
I bought this rug pad to put under the rug in my dining room. My dining room is a very high traffic area and the rug pad is sturdy and does not slip or move. I did not have any problems with shedding or any odors. I recommend this rug pad and the price is great too!
The quality seems pretty solid. I bought another rug pad (Mohawk felt rug pad), which I prefer more in terms of quality and that one was 100% felt (not part felt and rubber like the Rotell rug pad).
This is a good quality rug pad. I purchased a 6'6" x 9'9" rug, and didn't want to go up the extra size because I didn't want to pay more and fuss with cutting it back. I'm glad I made the choice that I did. This pad has a non-slip surface on the side that you place over the hard wood floor. It has a little bit of a cusion. The best price is that it is slightly less expensive than comparable products. So, I'm glad I bought this one and saved some money.
I have this rug pad under a large rug in my living room. I did have to cut it to match my rug but that was pretty easily done and the rug pad is great! It adds a little more cushion under the rug and keeps it from sliding on the wood floors. I'd recommend this for sure.
I like it Rotell Rug Pad (7'10 Round)
The pad was sized perfectly for my 2'6x14' rug; the pad was probably 2'4x13'9. The sizing allowed for the rug's edges and corners not to roll up or be caught by travel. The pad has rubber webbed gripping on one side (down if on a hard floor, up if on carpet) and a soft but fiberous texture on the other. I do have to align the pad/rug a few times a week in my hallway, but to be fair, my rug is 14 ft long. Our floor is stone tile with uneven surfaces and corners, so this will definitely preserve the life of our rug by keeping the jute backing from skidding around on the edges of our floor. I am pleased with the plush and quality.
This is advertised as a 100% felt rug pad. NOT!!! It's rubber on one side with a thin layer of felt bonded to it. The felt is covered with a fine nylon-like filament. The scratchy nylon defeats the prurpose of getting a felt pad. Don't waste your time or $$ on this. has 100% felt pads that are thicker and much less expensive. Wish I had shopped around before ordering this.
I've had this rug pad for about a month, and have no complaints at all. It had no odor when it arrived and we unrolled it. The bottom has rubber backing to keep it from sliding around on the floor, and has done a very good job of staying in place. This is a thinner rug pad, and we have a sisal rug on top. It has done a great job of keeping the rug in place. If you are looking for something very cushiony, you might want to try another rug pad. We chose this one because it is thin and has a low profile, and because the area we are using it for doesn't need a lot of squish. But it is definitely comfortable to walk on, or even sit on.
Our hardwood floor installer recommended this pad and it has worked out well. We've had it for about four months. Not worried about it scratching the floor. I would definitely recommend this pad.
Nice, quality rug pad. Rug stays in place and is more comfortable because of this pad.
I got this pad for a 6x9 area rug because I thought it should be smaller than the rug (in case it showed). After I put it down, I realized I probably could have gotten a pad the same size as the rug, but it really didn't seem to matter. The rug itself is quite plush and I never used it without the pad so I don't know how much better it feels with the pad. I do know that the rug feels great under my feet and will definitely not slip or roll up on my hardwood floors.
This felt rug pad is far better and not much more expensive than the rubber mesh ones. I only ordered this Rotell brand because it was the size that I needed versus the Safavieh brand that I bought for my other rugs. They both have surfaces for use on rugs and hardwood. The Rotell is thinner and less plush under your feet than the Safavieh brand. I would buy it again for the size and if thickness was a concern.
This is the second Rotell rug pad I have purchased, and both of them work very well. The great thing about them is that they are reversible, so they can be used on carpet or on hard surface. This particular runner pad was longer than I needed, so I used the part I cut off under another rug on another surface. Very versatile, and no scraps! Will definitely buy another if I need to.
I bought several different Rotell Rug Pads of various sizes when we moved to our new home. They are a nice quality and worked perfectly to protect our nearly 100 y/o hardwood floors.
