I was a little leery because of some of the reviews and because the photo didn't look quite like the color I needed for my room, and I'd been leanig toward the sold-out brown color. However, I am glad I paid more attention to the better reviews, and those which described the color more accurately. (They really need some better photos, maybe with the rug in a room.) It really is more of a dark grayish brown than a true charcoal, and the way that the colored fibers are mixed lends to the authentic look of the rug. It is a little glossy, which I suppose can look "fake," if you're familiar with the look of real rawhides, but it doesn't bother me. And it is so soft underfoot! (My dog seems to love sleeping on it.) My style is generally modern, and this fits in really well. It's fun, chic, and a little earthy. And much cheaper than I have seen this same rug elsewhere online. I feel like it's the new centerpiece of my living room. BTW, I did not need a rug pad, but my (wood) floors don't have a varnished finish. A slicker floor might. Try the rug first.
This rug is fantastic! My main priorities in buying a hide/synthetic rug were color and quality - it's great on both fronts. On color, I've attached some photos here, which are pretty accurate. It's mostly dark brown and ivory. Also has some medium grey spots, which are perfect because my couch is grey. Looks awesome on wood floors. It's also high quality even if synthetic and still looks fairly real. I have a real hide rug and like this one just as much. Price is very reasonable. I highly recommend buying this rug and I could not be happier with it. Hope this review helps.
The Faux Cowhide rug is true to size and the grey / charcoal brown colors in the rug are truly complementary to each other. The rug is very durable and well made. You only realize it's not real cowhide when you actually feel the rug.
I bought both this cowhide and the ivory one. Because of the dappled colors, this looks more realistic--especially since I would not purchase a real cowhide but want the look. I'm very happy with the purchase, and it's easy to keep clean. I've had both for 18 months, so the picture shows how they look with a lot of traffic.
I'm pretty thrilled with this purchase. I really wanted a rug for my room that would function as a statement piece and also as something different from the many standard printed rugs out there. Never in my life would I have thought I would want a cowhide rug, but once I got the idea in my head I couldn't let it go. As a long time vegetarian I was searching for a faux version and nearly every option I found was a black and white one that looked so dreadfully fake that it would only be appropriate in a child's bedroom or in a tacky themed restaurant (and even then would still be questionable). This one was the most realistic looking, reasonably priced and had great reviews, so I went for it. Other reviewers are right: it is not a true charcoal / white mix, but more of a dark brown / taupe / grey combination. But I knew that going in so it worked out well for me. If you want a true black and white / charcoal and white rug, this is not for you. It's definitely noticeably different from a real cowhide as far as texture and overall appearance, but not necessarily in a bad way. I love the softer look from the fake fur and I think it looks much nicer and has more volume than a true cowhide. It's very soft underfoot and is the best alternative to a real cowhide rug out there currently. I've gotten tons of compliments on it and it seems very durable. It's a very chic, bohemian piece when used properly. Shipping was a breeze.
I really wanted a cowhide rug for my office. I was having too much of a moral dilemma buying real cowhide, so I started looking for synthetic. I looked on multiple sites and read hundreds of reviews. The previous reviews sold me on this one! In person, it doesn't look or feel cheap, which was my biggest concern with synthetic. It has the style I was looking for and didn't come with the price tag or guilt of real cowhide. I definitely recommend!
It's actually really nice in pictures. It's obviously not cowhide to the touch and when you look up close, but I had no idea that it would actually feel like a regular rug. The print of the rawhide is just a little bit too "placed" which makes it look cheap up close. But from far away it creates a nice atmosphere/look and ambience and did what I wanted it to do in the room. I'm glad I didn't get the 5X7 or the 8X10 as this faux rug does well in small doses as it DOES look fake, even from far away. For $** I really can't complain, so I would recommend getting it if you a have little sitting area. Below is a picture of it in my music room which would probably look even better if there was other decor on the walls to distract from the fakeness of the rug.
I am very happy with this purchase. I wanted something that looked like cowhide because I wanted an irregular rug, but I'm vegetarian so I didn't want to buy a real cowhide. It looks just like a cowhide, but clearly it does not have the same texture as cowhide because it is fake fur. Great Offer Stock is also much cheaper than the same product on several other sites. It is soft and nice, and my dog loves it too.
I love the rug looks so much better in person. To me the colors look charcoal, black and ivory. Great look for the home!
Great faux cowhide rug. Used it to stage a model home. Gives the look of real cowhide at a third of the price. Bought 2 of these. One of them laid perfectly. I had to lay something heavy on the other one to flatten it but now it’s fine. Charcoal grey color. Not black. Keep that in mind.
Adds a bit of interest to an office. I had an 8 x 10 area rug in my office that was time to change out. Since I was changing paint, area rug, new chair (also from Overstock), adding a second desk (5 laptops for all my clients), and new rolling files, I wanted to do something different so thought I'd give this a try. I bought the largest size which is ok but do wish it was a bit bigger. For reference my desk is 79" in length and 31" in depth. The color is not really charcoal - it's brown. The lighter color spotting is more taupe. The color works with my floors so it's ok but if you want charcoal this is not it. The background is an ivory color. Overall it brings interest to the office. It's thin and I don't have a problem with sliding as the desk is heavy. I'll be keeping it and am trying to keep both my Great Danes off of it!
This rug is absolutely fantastic and ties my living room together perfectly. I was originally going to buy one of the smaller versions of this rug, but ended up getting the 6'2 x 8 and I'm really glad. I love how the rug is primarily ivory, gray and charcoal, but has minor hints of chestnut, which compliments my floors beautifully as the ebony wood has dark brown undertones when the sunlight hits it. It also goes perfectly with my faux fur pillows (which are said to be gray, but have a brownish hue). The quality of the rug is exceptional and looks more expensive than it is. The rug is thin and manageable, yet heavy enough so that it doesn't slide around. So far, I have not experienced much shedding, which is a pleasant and welcomed surprise. The only reason I am giving the rug 4 stars instead of 5 is because I am having a difficult time getting it to lay perfectly flat. I suppose I will have to wait and see if this issue will correct itself over time, but even if it doesn't, I don't feel as though the non-flat areas pose a tripping hazard and my robovac has been able to maneuver over those areas (although I did have to help it out a few times because it flipped up one of the corners). Overall, I personally think it is a beautiful rug and highly recommend it.
I purchased this Faux Cowhide Area Rug to warm up a reading nook area in my home; I was pleasantly surprised by how well it matched the online color and description, I was concerned that the size I ordered would be to small but to my surprise the size ordered was a perfect fit, the color is rich and it a matches perfectly with my décor. The Pros are, the quality of the Rug for the price is exceptional, it has the look and feel of genuine cow hide; Cons, there are no cons to report at this time as I have had the rug for less than1 week. However, I am hoping when the time comes to have it cleaned, it will clean well. I would definitely recommend this rug to my friends and family.
I’m in love with the rug! Only thing is that it’s black white and grey, not ivory and charcoal brown. I definitely recommend purchasing this rug.
Love the look of this Faux Cowhide Grey/ Charcoal Brown Area Rug - 3'10 x 5'. It is being used under a dinette set and matches perfectly. Would recommend.
Oh my goodness! This is just so cool! ! I was skeptical, as I often am with buying a rug online, but the price point and color were perfect—an ivory and charcoal combo with lighter grays and hints of taupe-ish brown. It adds so much character to the room. It looks real from far away. Close up, you can tell just enough that it isn’t real to be relieved that there isn’t a dead cow on your floor (sorry for being blunt, but to my point...), but close enough that it falls somewhere between sophisticated and fun, depending on how you’re utilizing the rug. I just remodeled my basement, adding wide-plank hardwoods and a bar, along with vintage arcade games and a pinball machine. I have three teenage boys and they finally feel like they have their own space in the house. It’s perfect and all three gave me a hearty thumbs up. It also passed the adult test. I agree that the rug pad is optional depending on your flooring. I opted for a rug pad, but if the floor isn’t slick, you can get away without one, which also gives it more of the authentic hide feeling. This one is a winner!
This is one of, if not the best home decor purchase I've made. Love this rug! Looks great, feels great and at a great price!
I am very impressed with the look of this faux cowhide. The rug is soft and feels durable. I have had to spot clean and had no issues.
This is a geat looking rug. The pictures are accurate but the Charcoal areas are very dark brown, almost light black. The rug has a good shape compared to some other faux ones I've seen. The texture is not soft, but appropriate for it being faux cowhide. It looked really good next to my gray couch but it didn't really go well with my brown couch which is what I bought it for originally. Overall, it is stylish and a good buy.
Enjoying the faux cowhide area rug.
