I have searched for 3 months for an extra firm mattress after buying a Novaform bed that was not even close to firm. Firmness is an individual opinion, so with that being said I like an EXTRA firm mattress and extra firm pillows. Apparently they don’t exist. I have chronic sciatica and degenerative spine disease so I need a very firm surface. I read all the reviews on anything I could find that was referred to as extra firm. The reviews were all over the place except the reviews on this mattress were the most consistent. I don’t like memory foam and finding a mattress without memory foam is almost impossible unless you want to spend over $1200.00. This review is for people who sit up in bed to read or watch television which I couldn’t find in any review. I am a small person. I have been sitting on this mattress to type this review and I am incredibly uncomfortable. My choice was between this mattress and a mattress on ***. This mattress is not returnable. On *** they will refund your money. So for people who want a very very firm mattress, this is not that.

If you are looking for an extra firm mattress, this is it. It comes in a box and does not have an odor like some mattresses do. The mattress is very firm but very comfortable.

I ordered this mattress after spending much more on what I thought would be a good firm mattress that would provide me with a good night's sleep. This mattress arrived well wrapped, and I opened it carefully and put it on my queen base. I left it for several hours to fully open up and slept on it the first night. I was very well rested the following day. This mattress is VERY firm, which is what I was looking for. I am 70 years old, and have back and knee problems. I had less pain in waking on this mattress than on the much more expensive one. So far I am very happy with this purchase.

OK, Not Great
It's fairly comfortable, but not "extra-firm" in my opinion. FYI, it is not 'flippable', there is only one side you can sleep on. Not sure how it will hold up over time. I am not real optimistic, somehow..It's OK for now, for the price.
