I purchased the 8x10 Supreme Felted Dual Surface rug pad and also an 8x10 Durable Hard Surface and Carpet rug pad (which costs a little bit more than the Supreme). The main difference that I have seen was in how they were packaged. The Supreme was sent folded up in a big square, the Durable was sent rolled on a heavy cardboard tube. Both arrived in good condition, and both flattened out equally. I have had them both for about 3 weeks and really can't tell any difference between them except that the felt on the Supreme is perhaps a bit scratchier, and maybe a slight bit thicker than the Durable (which cost more). Save your pennies and get the Supreme, unless you have a desire to have an 8' heavy cardboard tube as well. ;-)
I selected this pad based on the manufacturer, Mohawk, noted for their rug making. This Mohawk Premium Felted Dual-surface rug pad was exactly as described – great quality. It was easy to reduce in size with scissors to fit under my area rug, which was laid on my hardwood floor. I trimmed the pad approximately an inch and a half smaller than the rug so the rug would slightly drape over the pad and it looks perfect. This pad certainly made the rug so plush to walk on, a must under your rugs to enhance your walking experience and protect your hardwood floors. This pad prevents any movement or slipping even when vacuuming. I would recommend this rug pad over any of the thin synthetic or rubber pads, which do not provide the comfy feeling under your feet that this pad provides. Love it!
After reading other customers' reviews, I decided to buy this 10'x14' rug pad for under the 10'x14' Safavieh area rug (also from Great Offer Stock.com) that I bought for my bedroom. Since I am used to walking barefoot on wall-to-wall carpet with thick padding beneath it, I wanted to mimic that feeling as best as I could in my new home that came with all tile floors. Since I placed a queen sized bed in the middle of the rug, I did not need the Dual-Surface feature to keep it from sliding, but there is plenty of area without furniture where I didn’t want to take the chance of it lifting and me tripping on it. This rug pad seems to be true to the 1/4” thickness. It has both a (scratchy) felt side and a latex rubber grippy side. Depending on whether you are laying your area rug on top of a tile floor or wall-to-wall carpet, you would flip this pad to the appropriate side. I found it relatively easy to trim with a pair of long scissors - I rolled it out (then left it for a few days to air out) and placed the area rug on top of it, then cut the pad approximately 1” shorter on each side, so that it would allow the rug to lay flat at the edges. I’m not sure how the area rug would have felt without the addition of this pad, but I’m glad that I got it - the cushier, the better, in my opinion. *Note - In some people’s reviews, they mentioned that the latex backing was not compatible with their wood floors. Please do your own research before purchasing.
The Mohawk Home Premium Felted Dual-surface Rug Pad is a quality product. My rug always stays in place. It is also easy to clean. Highly recommend it!
The Mohawk home premium felted dual- surface rug pad is exactly what we needed for under our beautiful new living room rug. It is plush plus it helps to keep the rug in place.
This Mohawk Home Premium Felted Dual-surface Rug Pad worked perfectly for the rug we have on our hard wood floors. It does not bunch up or slip under the rug.
This is a great quality rug pad! Love the dual surface. The non-latex grip side works well with our hardwood floor and the felt side does a great job holding the rug in place. The thickness is perfect for our living area as it provides enough cushion but is not too thick. Would definitely recommend!
Mohawk Home Non-slip Dual Surface Felted Rug Pad - 5' x 8'
These rug pads are excellent and keep your rug and floors protected while not moving an inch. I used to have the simple rubber pads that were about 1/8" thick under my Persian carpets until we moved and I got my rugs cleaned. The local oriental rug store owner came to pick up my rugs for cleaning and chided me for not having better protection for my valuable rugs and even for my hardwood floors. He was right. After years of moving all over the world and having my rugs sit on different floor types with the simple rubber pads, there was definitely wear on the underside of my Tabriz. The rug store owner showed me the padding he likes best and it is the same as this padding sold on Great Offer Stock (same thickness, same backing, same materials). The difference was after spending a fortune to clean the rugs and have some repairs done to the Tabriz, I really didn't want to pay him over *** for two rug pads. So, I looked online and found the same pads at Great Offer Stock. Once again, Great Offer Stock saved me a load of money since I only had to spend about *** on the two pads. Some people complained that the pads stunk. That wasn't my experience. They smell a little bit on first opening the packages, but that fades quickly. They were easy to cut to exact rug size with some good shears. Most of all, they add significant padding and support to the rugs without moving on the floor and are affordable and necessary protection for your valuable rugs.
Mohawk Home Premium Non-slip Felted Dual Surface Rug Pad (2' x 20') does a good job...
The Mohawk Home Premium Felted Dual Surface Rug Pad is perfect! It makes our rug so much thicker and softer. Highly recommend for any rug!
This is a great rug pad. The dual surface pad provides a non slip surface for any rug. It is not a thick pad. This is the only pad I will buy for area rugs. I recommend you also buy.
This felted "dual surface" rug pad it nice for the price. Not super thick but certainly thicker than some other rug pads I purchased ... it has a rubber backing (should be placed floor side down) and a scratchy side (that should be placed rug side up) these two surfaces 1.) hold the rug in place on the pad and 2.) hold the pad on the floor so no slipping. I bought this to replace a thin pad I purchased else where that was unsatisfactory - was pleased to see this one was about 1/4 inch thick - made a good difference in how the rug felt under foot.
This rug pad adds notable height to a rug, giving even a thin or sparse rug an enhanced walking feel. The stability provided is excellent. While no rug pad can perfectly secure corners, this pad has a good texture on either side for gripping rug or floor. One side is felted and appropriate for rugs atop carpet, one side has a gentle rubberized layer for rugs atop hard surfaces. I have hardwood floors, and even in the high traffic main hallway, runners are staying put. You may need to secure corners if you have a corner exposed in a high traffic path (my front door is at the corner of an open plan living space, for example), but this would be true of any rug pad. This is the best quality and design I have yet seen. Hands down. Even areas that I would normally buy a cheaper foam grid pad, the peace of mind and finishing effect of this one is fabulous. I found it easy to cut with heavy duty utility shears, too. I'm planning to buy another big pad again soon to cut down for my smaller accent rugs. I love it when something of relative low cost does so much. Some rug pads are such junk, they don't hold a rug in place and they don't really protect the floor or rug from wear. This one is like buying comfortable shoes that will fit you and help you walk for miles. I know I sound like an advertising copywriter, but if you are on the fence about this, go for it. You can buy a rug pad at half the price of this one and hate it, or buy this one and get twice or three times the value, I would certainly pay more for this rug pad than it's listed for, it's worth it.
I purchased the Mohawk Home Premium Felted Dual-Surface Rug Pad - Grey? Another great buy. This area rug does the job and provides enough the cushion and protection if you have hardwood flooring. The quality is great.
I am very happy with this premium non-slip felted dual surface rug pad; it adds just a little cushion to my hard floor makes the rug feel softer to walk on as well as protects the floor underneath. In addition, I bought the correct size rug pad therefore, It fitted perfectly and no trimming was needed also the rug stay put no worries about someone slipping on my rug now.
I purchased this pad for use with a Safavieh Mahal Traditional Grandeur Navy/Red Rug and am glad that I did. The Mohawk pad's composition works better, I feel, than the 'waffle pattern' foam pads I have used in the past under oriental rugs. This pad unfurls from its packaging with relative ease and is also easy to smooth out for a good, flat, under-rug fit. In practice, the pad proved to be ever-so-slightly larger than my rug (better that than too small, I think) and was easy to trim to size with a set of hand-held shears. This is a so-called "Dual Surface" pad. In practice this means that one side of the pad has a very slightly tacky (as in, 'slightly sticky') surface, where the other side does not. It pays to think through whether you want to position the pad with its sticky side up (toward the rug) or down (toward the floor). In my application, where the rug and pad go on top of a wood-look ceramic tile floor, it worked out best to position the pad sticky-side down (so that the pad had a reasonably firm grip on the floor). In turn, having the non-sticky side facing up meant that I could slip the rug--to a degree--over the upward-facing side of the pad so as to nudge the rug into position and fine-tune its final placement. Your 'mileage' may vary though, so some trial-and-error experimentation might be in order. All in all, a very good pad and an absolute necessity for use with relatively thin, finely woven rugs like mine. (Hint: If you are getting a new rug, don't skimp on the pad; get a good one like this one. It makes all the difference in terms of the final look and feel of nicer rugs.)
I tried out two rugs (on tile floor) for about 6 months to see if I thought a pad would add anything for the money. Lets just say I won't order another rug for a hard surface without a pad for it. Most rugs come with a very course bottom which normally helps them stay in place except on tile. Besides the rug moving around it's like sand paper on your tile and if you've had your floors sealed then you know grit is about the worst thing for it.. The rubber side really works well holding in place and I haven't tested it but I hope it also will provide a liquid barrier should there be a large spill and it soak through the carpet. I have the 8x10 and the 5x8 sizes. Both are slightly larger than my rugs so I need to trim about 2 inches off one side. This is nice since rug sizes aren't an exact science and your covered if you're rug is a little oversized. Comes folded into a big pillow like square wrapped in heavy clear plastic that opens on the end so easy to get out. Doesn't lay totally flat because of the folds, but I immediately put my rugs on them anyway. Rugs looked fine so they seemed to do a good job flattening them out. Will go back in a coupe days and give the pad a little tug to get out any remaining slack. If you're rugs are somewhat thin you will love how this makes the rug feel the first time you walk on it with bare feet. It's amazing that beyond the colors, patterns, and materials the thing that makes a rug stand out the most is how soft it is under your feet. I'd easy say a $300 rug with a mat is going to be enjoyed more than an $800 rug without one.
I would definitely purchase the Mohawk Home Premium Felted Dual-Surface Rug Pad again. It's high quality and makes for a cushy carpet underfoot.
This Mohawk Home Non-slip dual surface felted rug pad does it’s job! It fits nicely under my 5x8 rug and keeps it in place. The rug pad is worth the money I paid For it.
