My back is bad. I have had an L5-S1 discectomy in 2012, and had to injections a few times to keep my sciatic nerve pain down.
My previous mattress was from Ashley Furniture, it was a Queen, Fairly Soft and I paid over $1,300 for it. It is/was an excellent mattress however my back just can't take the sag in the Middle where my lumbar is.
Now for this Slumber Solutions 14-inch King-Gel Memory Foam Mattress. At first I was worried. Having no idea how this mattress would feel, since we can't actually test it, I was hopeful but also concerned. Especially, not knowing what would happen with my $*. Is this going to be a waste? I had no idea. Well the Mattress Arrived and, WOW THIS THING IS AMAZING! When I first laid down on it, I thought this 'FIRM' Mattress was still too soft. However, once you lay completely flat it filled in my most critical areas, such as my lumbar. That lower back pocket of the spine. My Nerve was burning down my leg so bad for weeks, and literally the next day, the pain calmed down by at least 70%. I wasn't feeling perfect of course, but the Mattress definitely helped. The Mattress is fairly firm, but just firm enough to give that support you need, without being HARD. I didn't quite notice any 'GEL' affect. So if you get this Mattress with the expectation that the Gel Memory Foam on the top of the Mattress is going to feel different or cooler, it really doesn't. The Mattress isn't spongy like a Tempur-Pedic mattress either. So don't expect that push of a hand into the Mattress and it's going to leave a hand mark for a few seconds effect, it's not the case. But this Mattress will do exactly what you need it to do. Get sleep, and good sleeping. I have no idea why anybody would need to spend more than $* for an Excellent Mattress. All those other so called, 'High End' Mattress are a complete waste of money. In my opinion. I've tried almost everything out there, and for the price, in my opinion. This is the only Mattress to get. I assume it wouldn't matter what size you get, but this review is for a FIRM - KING... FYI.
