I did not provide any shade for my standard size patio table. the measurements are taken from tip to tip and it makes a huge difference. The color is nice. I cannot speak on the durability. I put it up and took it down & returned. Something to consider when ordering is that Great Offer Stock charges about $* to return. If you need a 8.5' or 9' umbrella, you might be happier just ordering something else
