This fan was bought to replace a badly installed, old looking hall fan. The hall gets very hot because of all the heat that gets trapped up in the attic, on top of which clearance space with ceiling and walls are pretty tight--largest fans just would not work. This Hunter Newsome Fan has many plus sides: it has a clean updated style, the 42-inch blades are powerful and quiet doing a great job circulating the air, packaging was done well to avoid damage in transit, and overall it is a great value for the price. That said, the cons: the materials are easily scratched, the blades and lighting bowl in particular; the instruction illustrations was too vague with different sized screws looking alike and no close-up shots of the locations for holes/slots (so definitely do not empty the different packets into one pile, keep them in their bags to make things easier on yourself!); even though newcomers like ourselves could install this fan, the process could have gone a lot faster with better instructions and illustrations (3 hrs . and most of it was trying to thread screws for the mounting bracket when we finally realized why they were not fitting--there was an unnecessary T-bracket leftover from the old fan causing the issue, Hunter could of just drawn a close-up of the correct layout to help us out here). The final issue with the fan is the real reason for knocking two stars off--the design flaws: the button for reversing rotation is horizontal and in a spot that is inside the lighting bowl, very hard to get to without a ladder for us; the blades use magnets (which are included) to make balance adjustments, they cannot be manually turned; and the speed switch is indeed not functioning properly as other people have mentioned. This speed switch chain is suppose to thread into a slot by the lighting chain, but the shape of the bowl presses against this chain so that it no longer works. We had to take the speed chain completely out and let it hang on the side, which causes it to scratch the bowl and must be done at least a 45 degree angle to operate. Hunter should know all these switches should be a simple up and down function without such hassles. Good thing the fan is powerful and still looks good despite the flaw or else it would have been returned.
Beautiful fan. Low profile, quiet, easy to install. Modern look, and a great addition to any room. Good size. Great wood color and great light!
Great fan! It came quick and is sturdy and quiet. I needed new fans with a light kit and this one fit the bill! Not too heavy looking and the light is just bright enough. Great option for the price. I like that there were different color options available too.
I love the modern industrial look of this fan. I have very low ceilings and this hugs the ceiling so guests don't hit their heads on it. Love the dark blades with the nickel finish.
I Bought this for a 10 x 12 bedroom and had my son-out-law install it. He said it was fairly straightforward and was installed in less than an hour. The design is simple and clean and I love that it is super quite, no motor noise at all. All you will hear is the air moving, and this fan really moves the air! I now have my thermostat set at 72 degrees, but it feels much cooler. I’m looking forward to lower electric bills! It is hard wired to a wall switch and also has the pull chains to turn the light portion off at night. This fan is a lot of bang for the buck!
We love our new fan! Nice bright light and quiet fan. It is just the right size for a small room, and we love how it doesn’t hang low. Definitely recommend it.
During remodeling asked the contractor to install but they said was easy. Beautiful fan and extremely quiet even on high speed. I purchased on sale for half the price of that big home improvement chain. Excellent quality fan has brushed nickel finish and gives off good amount of light in the room.
Beautiful. Low noise. Easy installation.
I really am so happy with this fan.....its quiet and the 42 inch fan blades put out a great amount of cooling air. It's very pretty & matches perfectly with my dark java gel kitchen decor. Another perfect purchase-Thank you!
Great fan! Easy to install and it puts out a good amount of light. I installed this in my kitchen. It does have a larger then normal base to it, but that doesn’t bother me. This fan is powerful and puts out lots of nice air flow.
Fan works and looks great in the rooms. Definitely would recommend this fan to anyone. Love that I can use the other side of the fan blades if needed.
This is a very nice ceiling fan that looks great and where you put it. The only complaint I might have about this ceiling fan is that it isn’t very bright. It was an okay purchase for a bedroom with lamps.
Mu husband installed in less than an hour and that includes removing the old fan. I wanted something that was more transitional/modern and hugged the ceiling better and this does all those things.
Fan looks good - I like that the blades are reversible and the wood finish looks nice. Wish the chains were a bit longer but not a big deal. Most importantly, the fan runs smoothly and is very quiet. Great product for the price!
Very happy with this purchase.....it's pretty quiet and the blades put out a good amount of air for a 11x11 bedroom. Looks great installed in a grey toned space.
Nice! Really enjoy this ceiling fan
Hunter is a staple for ceiling fans. I have owned many in the past and will continue to buy them. Simple enough to install, quiet while running, and great to look at.
Matches the bigger size perfectly. We needed the smaller size because of the access to the attic in one room. Great quality and the lights work great
Such a wonderful calling fan...my living room feels cooler and the light fixture is very soft and smooth combination
Love this fan! Quiet and efficient. So happy with this fan that we bought it in the larger size for another room!
