Not so quiet when the A/C is on, but is quiet when the fan blows. The A/C gets very cold, the down fall is the back on the remote will not stay on, not sure if I have a defective one but it's horrible to have to keep putting the back on the remote.

it has been a good buy; it is mainly meant to fit a horizontal window though.

this item cools my whole downstairs area, much better than a window air conditioner and it doesnt run loud

Nice portable a/c that does excellent job cooling about 400 Sq ft of space. The only drawback is the huge vent hose which is necessary for this type. Thermostat, quick cooling, wheels for repositioning, quiet even when operating and value priced. A winner.
