Made from Volcanic Ash, this Buddha cat statue is a fun piece reminding us not to take ourselves or life too seriously, a tenant of Zen Buddhism.
It is Weatherproof
The artist, Nyoman Mahayani grew up in his father's footsteps to become a renowned stone carver. He now helps a large portion of his village to earn a good and stable salary. Working locally means not travelling long distances for work in the city; this allows Nyoman and his helpers to invest more time, energy and resources to their families, which is greatly appreciated by all.

Hefty for its size Can't fault the statue, but I wasn't charmed by its appearance once I got it home. That's just a matter of personal preference which doesn't detract from the item's quality. It's well made.

Piece of whimsy? Could have been that the Buddha was a cat in one of his former lives, but this statue just reminds me that all living beings have the Buddha nature. Nice, heavy material, perfect gift for my cat-loving hubby - he keeps it in his office.
