This rug is casual and could fit in casual or modern settings. The color is indigo, like blue jeans, and varies subtly throughout the rug. The rug appears to be very rugged and should last a long time. Since the rug is made of a leather weft woven on a cotton warp, it is quite hard, not at all cushiony. It is bumpy, not smooth, so I wouldn't recommend it if you will walk on it in bare feet frequently. It has been working great for us under our dining room table.
Over-all, this is a nice rug. Never before having had a leather rug, I was at first suprised but the rough feel of the rug, however I quickly got used to it. The rug is very easy to clean. My dog upchucked on the rug and it cleaned with just water and had no remaining stain or odor! I'm ery pleased with the rug. One suggestion-get a rug pad. It keeps the rug from slipping andinprovd it's feel under foot.
The combination of weaving cotton with leather makes the rug rough to the touch. In fact, it is less supple than any 'rag' style rug we've owned previously. The rug is in a high traffic area and will withstand rough treatment. In its current location it will be exposed to rain, snow, mud, etc. Hopefully as it wears so too will the leather and fiber. I think it's a smart purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
After reading reviews, I second guessed my purchase and nearly cancelled after ordering. Glad I didn't as this was much nicer than expected. What was a surprise was how soft and supple it is. It looks like a cotton rag rug from India, but both heavier and more supple/flexible. Rch color, soft, minimal leather smell (not unpleasant). Negative is that the 4X6 arrives folded in half and we are having a hard time removing the crease (it's only been 2 weeks and haven't weighed it down yet). Also thinner than expected, but that isn't a negative for us (being used at beach house and like that it's easy to shake out).
I wanted something more interesting, and the varied shades of blue and hand-woven nature of this rug make it very unique. It is exactly what you would expect of a leather rug - not necessarily soft and fluffy, but adds a nice padding to a hardwood floor. It does smell like leather at first, but after it has aired out for a few days the smell dissipates. A rug pad for underneath is recommended to avoid color transference to your floor.
Our purchase was based on color, price and size... very happy with all three. The rug is has great tonal blues that contribute to the texture of the rug. The feel not especially soft or too rough. Some color pilling has occured when my toddler rolled around on the rug. There was a tag attached recommening using a rug pad due to potential color bleed. My recommendation is to let it sit outside and "air out" for a day or so... awful chemical smell after unwrapping.
One reviewer described this as a "rag rug" made with suede -- as though that were a bad thing. On the contrary, this is GREAT! I love a rag rug but hate how quickly they dirty and start to look beat up. This is not a problem with this rug. I don't find mine rustic at all (maybe the quality varies?), but quite elegant. There's an element of quirky to it that appeals to me, but my overwhelming thoughts are: 1. WHOA, the blues in this are amazing and 2. WHOA, this is a heavy, substantial rug that I suspect will have a very long life. As mentioned in previous reviews, it's not soft. It is strips of suede sewn together: it feels slightly bumpy and very firm. But if I'd wanted something cushy, I would have gone with flokati or shag. I wanted something large and hearty for my entryway, and this fits the bill. I could not be happier. The colors really are phenomenal and the size is fully 5' x 8'. It shipped quickly and I'm a happy camper.
Beautiful rug, love the leather feel. The crease from being folded during the mailing process has come out after a few weeks. I have no complaints, and would purchase this rug again.
This is just like any rag rug, but it's woven with dyed leather strips instead of fabric strips, so it is a little rough under foot. I had another leather rag rug in the past and it eventually softened up, so give it time. I am definitely putting a non-skid pad under it because I'm scared the dye will transfer to the floor over time. Overall, this is a great rug for the price, a beautiful denim blue and super durable!
I bought this rug for my daughter in college. We loved it. It brought together her room and made it lively. You must remember that this is made with suede leather strips. Walking on it barefoot is not for the faint of heart. But we love it, it is a creative design, the blue hues as wonderful and it is well made, it will last. Great value too. delivery was fast.
Looks like your favorite jeans and feels good too! Nubby texture with more of a distressed look. If you have to have everything just so so - then don't order this.....if you love comfort and unusual, and service-able items then go for it. The Blue I received is much larger than the white. It will spot clean, don't soak it, and it will vacuum on high pile. The leather strips lay flat and are interwoven with a heavy thread. No fringe. It does take a few days for it to relax after shipping. Packaging was great.
I love this rug. It fills the living room just as I wanted it to. The blue is a perfect blue for my design base. The texture in the rug gives it a very organic look and design effect. I had purchased a black one, same size for the dining room but sent that one back. Nothing wrong with the rug, I just really liked the look of the single rug in a large living/dining room early 1900’s floor plan. And the dining room shows the beautiful natural hardwood floors.
This rug is perfect in my son's room! It has a great textured look and feel with wonderful blue that matches our color scheme.
The leather in this rug is what makes it most Special! I searched for this rug once I discovered it and found it on Great Offer Stock for the best price. I love the smell of the leather which is weaved into the rug. It's more of a casual rug, and yet a statement piece!
This rug is a gorgeous blue. I love the leather with cotton weft. That said, it's a lot thinner than other leather rugs I've owned in recent years. And, it was 2" wider than expected...which means it doesn't fit in my entry as it was supposed to. Otherwise, it's a beautiful color.
I found it so difficult to find a rug this size in this color of blue, or for any other color for that matter, so I was thrilled when I saw this. Another great thing about this rug is that it has many different hues of blue and white woven into the fabric so that it looks great with all the colors in my bathroom. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating was because the binding is a little narrower than the rest of the rug.
This is a nice rug. However for very specific tastes. Very well suited to a home with modern or contemporary furnishings. The smell referred to in some reviews is the odor of leather that will dissipate over time, a week or two. It did not work where we wanted to use it. However it was such good quality and a good deal that we are keeping it. A relative wants to use it for his office, a perfect use. It is not a comfy, cushiony feel under your feet, it's leather and feels like it.
Couldn't imagine what these rugs would look like. I loved them ( I order two different sizes). The rugs have a very rustic look. The leather is soft and like a woven mat. Unfortunately they were for my sons room and he wanted something soft that would feel good on his bare feet so I order him a shag rug and returned these. I am not sure how you would clean this rug but it would look great in a rustic setting.
I appreciate this rug a great deal! Since I am a collector of cobalt glass, finding this rug to tie the rest of my home decor with big brown leather furniture in the living room was an awesome find. The color is even better and brighter than the pictures. So far, better than expected!!!
It's hard to find a rug this large for anywhere close to this price, especially with natural fibers. This rug is beautiful and homey looking although the color is a bit brighter/more cobalt-like than in the photo, but it is not soft on the feet. Personally I kind of like it since it reminds me of those sandals with nubbed footbeds from the 80's and 90's that are meant to give you an acupressure foot massage, but it might be too much for some folks. I have another smaller hand knotted wool Persian rug on top which makes for a nice texture balance.
