The dimensions and overall look of this International Caravan Windsor 5-tier Bookshelf were perfect for the space at the end of my hallway, I also wanted solid wood, so I gave this a try. My husband assembled it and warned me early in the process that there were spots where the lacquer was missing, or too heavy, and had blops in the carved grooves of the wood, some of the carving was rough, and small bits & pieces are miscarved/gouged . The good news is the bookcase is double sided, so I told him to put all the better looking pieces towards the front, nobody is going to see the back side. Even then, I was surprised to find most of the center wood spindles on the sides (decorative, not weight bearing) were a full 1/4" short. This is particularly noticeable under the top-most shelf, which is at eye level - you can see the light wood peg in the 1/4" gap from the top of the bookcase. Bottom line, QC is lacking. Having said all this, I put it in place and it looks nice. I probably wouldn't buy this again because, even with a good coupon, it was a couple hundred dollars. Still, if you can't find anything else locally, this looks nice and may suit your purpose.
