The Hacienda Collection of Wool Flat Weave rugs are a mix of ancient tribal motifs and new contemporary designs. These beautifully durable rugs are painstakingly crafted by hand-weaving 100% wool yarns through a jute warp, creating a detailed and tightly woven foundation. It is this tight weave that helps these beautiful rugs lay flat and wear well. At the ends, a soft knotted fringe adds to the overall distinction of this completely reversible rug. The Tribal is a centuries old design carefully woven in primary colors of Brick Red and Rust. Intricate panels artistically decorate the rug with secondary colors of Tan, Sage, and Denim.

Tip: We recommend the use of a non-skid pad to keep the rug in place on smooth surfaces.

All rug sizes are approximate. Due to the difference of monitor colors, some rug colors may vary slightly. We try to represent all rug colors accurately. Please refer to the text above for a description of the colors shown in the photo.

  • Just what the room needed!

    Option: Red 9' x 12'

Definitley a good deal for the size and workmanship. "Ease of Assembly" might not usually relate to a rug - but in this case it does. Rug had very little odor upon arrival. Just a fresh jute smell. I put it outside in the sun before bringing it in, expecting an overwhelming odor of shipping and storage. There wasn't a need - just a fresh but not overwhelming hay smell. Dyes appear to be pretty well set - no bleeding into the light colored carpet underneath - even after a water spill. Vacuuming does produce a large amount of fibers early on - but that decreases with time without any deteriment to the surface of the rug. Colors may vary with your monitor - I had thought the red was more red than it actually is - but it is a heathered maroon. Would have been happy either way, but the maroon is easier to accessorize with. Very very happy. I'd recommend this item to everyone - but then we don't want everyone to have one, do we?

  • Love This Rug

    Option: Red 4' x 6'

I bought 2 of the 4 X 6 Tribal rugs for my small apt. I have a medium blue couch with some off-white pattern in it which actually looks alright with these even though the lighter "off white" color in the rug is more jute colored. After hunting for a rug for months, my friend advised just buy what you like regardless if it's not matchy matchy (with your couch). So I did! I just love the red color (I'm not a big on red person by the way) -it's the kind of color that goes with everything & has been referred to as 'grenadine' red in a tweedy sweater I recently purchased. The rugs are true to size, muted/rustic colors, with more denin/medium blue in it than expected (even after reading all the reviews) & tweedy in texture. They are 'thin', not a high plush pile, which could have earned less than 5 stars, but work well with the padding I ordered along with them & actually am glad they're not too high being on laminate flooring. One rug is with the thinner pad for front door clearance, the other with the plusher pad by the couch. They seem to be tight woven & substantial enough to last with my 2 spunky cats. The pattern is one you won't grow tired of & blends in great. I appreciate the workmanship & uniqueness of this rug!

  • Mudbath anyone?

    Option: Red 8' x 10'

I think that, for a collector of tribal rugs, this might be an interesting addition. But if you want an attractive rug that you actually want to look at, forget it. The problem is not the flat weave; that's a traditional style and even if it feels tough for bare feet it fits with a rustic theme. The problem is the color. Imagine if you took the rug in the photo and dipped it in mud. That's what you'll get. Designers might call it 'subdued.' I found that the uniform muddy darkness conceals the design. I have come to learn that Overstock's photographers jazz up the colors with PhotoShop. Please you guys, don't' try the defense "It's your monitor". You will spare yourselves a lot of returns by providing honest pictures.

  • Great looking and value for money!
    Option: Red 5' x 8'

We bought this rug for our foyer, and it has been in place for over a month. It gets a lot of foot traffic. In addition, we have five cats, all of whom like to sharpen their claws on it. It looks as good as the day we received it: no pulls, no frays. It is easy to vacuum, even. The color is not quite as bright as on the monitor, but nicer- looks antique. It fits right in with the various tribal and Turkish rugs in the house, but is completely reversible. Grab it quick!

Love this rug. The mistake I made was not putting a carpet mat underneath it. It stained my carpet, my bad. It held up so well never a run or snag. It is very large to cover a large area economically

I got the long runner rug (2 x 14 I think). It was a little different than in the photo, the colors, especially the red, wasn’t very vibrant. It looks very similar to the runner photo but the colors weren’t as bright as I thought

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"Is this "blue" in this more blue or grey? How would you describe the red? Is it bright red, deep red, orange type red, etc.?"

  • Q:

    "how thick is this rug?"

    • A:

      Approximately 1/4 inch.

  • Q:

"How do you clean this rug?"

    • A:

We recommend spot cleaning with a damp rag for spots and stains, but professional cleaning is best for long term cleaning and any tougher stains and messes.

  • Q:

"Would this carpet handle an office chair rolling over it without damaging wood floor underneath?"

    • A:

We would recommend a pad under the rug.

  • Q:

"Referencing a similar question, one description of the rug says 80/20 wool/jute. The additional description (below the first) says 30/70 wool/jute. Which is correct? Is either correct, and dependable if I order? Thanks."

  • Q:

"What percent of wool is in this rug? Would someone be willing to take a picture of their 8 by 10 rug and attach it to a review so I can see the colors from a more 'real life' picture?"

    • A:

Hello benheitman, the rug is hand crafted with wool, through a jute backing. Thanks for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"Is this rug certified to ensure it was made by adults and not child labor?"

    • A:

Hello Kevin with Manos Home Care, yes, the Hand Woven Tribal Wool and Jute Rug (12 x 18), is certified and ensures that is made by adults and not child labor. Have a great day.
