Buyer Beware... cherry color is not cherry at all
The chairs are very solid. We liked that they came assembled. But, we noticed some problems right away. Everyone slides forward a bit in the seats, which is a little bothersome. One chair had a little nick in it, and another had a strange looking wood grain in the seat -- almost like it had been milled the wrong way. We needed the chairs, though, and figured we had to compromise on some things because we were buying online and we couldn't pick these out ourselves. However, our biggest concern was regarding the color, something that could be avoided with the right info.
These chairs came up when I searched for a "cherry" finish to match our cherry wood table. I read the reviews before I purchased, and learned that the cherry color was the lighter chair - which was fine with me- because we did not want very dark chairs. The photo here looks like a cherry color, which would match our table pretty well. But, the chairs are not even close to a cherry color. And, what's more, the finish nearly perfectly matches our ancient oak cabinets?! So if you are going for an oak color- choose the "cherry!" And if you want a dark walnut or such, choose the "oak."
As for us, we did not return the chairs because we had a tight timeline and company visiting, no time to return. (Also, returns are $* for 4 chairs.) I figure I can refinish them one day, when I get a chance. But, if we had to do it all over again, I would buy different chairs.
