A worthy purchase, outstanding service from OS.
Since we stopped making the good things here a long long time ago, I usually get to spend some time tidying things up that come from our economocally booming neighbors to the east. And since we as a nation have decided that it's to much like work to make things anymore I guess were stuck with it.
On that note and considering the source, heres how I break it down.
PROS: I am extremely happy with my purchase on both value and quality. It meets my requirements fully as a desk ensamble. The construction is very stout, all solid hardwood with thin oak veneer. Metal work welds are smooth and consistant, good quality paint finish with gold highlites. Dont freak over the little insect looking patterns on the wood tops, its the distressed oak look. Assembly and set up was easy requiring few tools. It is very attractive and functional just as it looks in the pictures but better in person. You will need a keyboard with a small footprint to have ample room for mouse in pull out keyboard drawer, or their perfect to tuck away the laptop. Other drawers are adequate but not large. Levelers on feet a plus.
CONS: Shipping damage. As I said these desk are stout, packing is woefully inadequate in the corners and you may receive units with damaged desk top corners and busted drawers from being mishandled (No worries as I have found out, OS customer service is second to none in my book). Don't expect miricles people, I'm amazed the desk made it intact at all from half way around the world. Good job shippers. Some repairs on a few items such as minor spots of delaminating veener (use clear power grab and painters tap to hold while curing), misaligned drawers (adjust drawer track as drawer fronts are fixed) and a little packaging rodeo may be expected, but in the end all is well.
This desk should last for years if properly cared for.
My hats off to Great Offer Stock and their customer service team, way more than I expected. If you have an issue, they'll handle it pronto, guaranteed.
