It's not onerous at all to fill your cup with water, then pour it in the back. It heats much more quickly than when you have to wait for a new tank to heat. Also, it won't start until it senses a cup underneath. Great feature. The only thing to be wary of is that it is too short to fit a travel mug underneath, and the fill/fit is really just for a 6-8 ounce standard coffee cup or mug. Any large mugs or unusual shapes probably won't fit, or if they do fit, they won't fill unless you put a second run of water through. Which actually works fine. But 5 star for its performance, the cup-sensing feature, the small profile form factor, and I really like not having to fill up a large Keurig's tank after someone in the family has made their coffee and left it empty. Again. :) So as you can see, I use it in my kitchen. It would also, of course work. really well as an office desk coffee maker. The caveat, again, being the mug size issue.
