I love the style of this set, and as I am reasonably certain other reviewers have mentioned, the bowls are HUGE. They are 1 quart bowls and can easily double as serving bowls. I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one other reviewer go on about big dishes being why American's are so fat, but that's a crock. These big bowls are awesome, and you don't have to fill them up.
In fact, you don't really want to. I was a little alarmed about these bowls. My last set of dishes were Corelleware, they are nice and small and flat, and easy to store. 12 of them fit in a nice, tidy space. Not so with this set - I had to move shelves to store these bowls. Not only are they large, they don't nest as well as the Corelleware did, so they take up more vertical space. This should not deter you, these bowls ARE AWESOME! And here's why: You put your food in them, and there is plenty of room to move the food around. If you have soup, and you are not sitting at your dining room table, there is some slosh room. If you have salad, you can move it around without the salad jumping out. If you have casserole, there is room to move the food around so you can get it on your fork without worrying about it falling out.
So take that, fat accusers.
