Our house is small, so we've really got to be able to put each and every room to as much use as possible. We were struggling to find furniture to make the most of our smallish, spare bedroom: comfortable for guests, but more than just a bedroom the rest of the time. This daybed fits the bill perfectly!
I was a little nervous about it being too big based on some of the other reviews. However, I think it only seems big if you think about it first as a sofa and second as a bed. Yeah, it would be a big sofa. But if you think about it first as a bed, then it really doesn't feel big at all.
Really pretty easy to put together. I did it myself, although admittedly there were a few steps where an extra set of hands would have been nice.
If I were to look at this daybed from pure design and function, I would give it 5 stars. However, it takes a small hit in my book from the value angle. There just really isn't much material here. The bulk of the daybed is the mattress -- which you have to buy separately. There just doesn't seem to be enough material here to fully justify the cost. I would be surprised if the material costs were higher than $50 altogether. I realize all furniture has significant markups, but those markups were just a bit more tangible to me than normal.
But I really don't know if I could have gotten a comparable daybed for any less anywhere else. And in year's time, I'll have an awesome daybed and have forgotten completely about the price. So all in all, I give this my strong recommendation.
