Fantastic! I was hesitant to buy these shades. The price is very reasonable and usually with window coverings you get what you paid for. We have so many windows in our house it would take a small fortune to pay to have all the coverings installed so I took a chance and I'm glad I did. These shades are light but seem to be well-made and function smoothly up and down. The installation was easy. I inside mounted them and the brackets they come with have multiple ways to attach. I appreciated the option that allows you to slide the bracket slightly forward or backward to adjust the depth of the shade perfectly (instead of a small screw hole there are also longer channels that can be screwed into allowing you to slightly move the brackets back and forth before tightening them in place). I also liked that the mounting brackets are able to attach on the backside of the shades rather than on the ends. This allows you to order as close to the width of the window as possible, preventing large gaps on the sides for light to come through. These shades only soften the light and are not blackout ones but I am using them with curtains and together they shut out the light when I want but then I have the option to have diffused light as well. I highly recommend these shades.

Inexpensive and nice I purchased many of these shades and found them to be nicer [and less expensive] than the comparable ones from Home Depot. They are a neutral white as opposed to the almost bluish tint of HD variety. They slide up and down smoothly and with minimal effort, while the HD ones require a bit more force. The retraction mechanism is in the header rather than the bottom of the shade, so the bottom is light and easy to maneuver.

Great Blinds I got these blinds for the kitchen. I wanted to keep it bright but filter the light. They were easy to install, sturdy, and the up/down mechanism works great. I am very happy with this purchase and will probably use these to replace the remaining 2 windows in my living room.

I don't think a half an inch is going to be enough for these brackets. However you can mount them on the outside of the window.

Yes, they are cordless. One thing I didn't think about when ordering was that I have windows that are about 9 feet above the ground at the top so it's hard to open completely and to close them without having a cord. I use my husbands golf driver to push them completely open and I bent a metal marsh mellow roasting stick to form a loop that can grab the handle for lowering them. Not too scientific, but if cords are not suitable for you (i.e. you have small children or pets), then this solution has worked for me. I hope this is helpful!

For an inside mount, it is recommended that you choose a width that is 0.25 inches smaller than the inside of your window frame.

"I have a window that is 46 High x 71 Wide (inside measurements). I don't see a blind that comes close to that measurement. What do you suggest?"

A:
71 wide is very wide for a single window treatment. Its not easy to raise and lower evenly, and with time the headrail and bottom rail will tend to bow. Its best to split the shade in two or three sections and have separate controls. Lining up the split on a mullion or window grid will give the best appearance. The headrails butt together very closely but you'll have a 1/2" crack of light between the shades when they are down. Positioning over a mullion helps to fill that gap. Or hide the split under a window curtain panel. Some wider windows have a large center fixed window flanked by two smaller functioning windows. In that application, its best to cover with three shades butted together.

I purchased these for pairs of large windows that were exactly 34 inches each, and yes, the dimension was true to size. Just be sure you have that 34 inches for each window/door, and will fit inside the frame of your slider. You CAN always remove the little plastic end caps to make these types of shades a tad smaller. And, of course, with Great Offer Stock you can return them ... which is always nice when you aren't sure.

I inside installed all the shades I purchased and found the measurements to be very accurate. I think if you purchase the 25.5 it won't fit. A little less is better, more width will not work.

I installed a few of these shades. I inside mounted them. Screwed the bracket on the wood jamb and these shades just snap into place. I don't think they can be side mounted because that would interfere with the operation of the shade.

Brackets can go inside window casing, or outside casing, just be sure to adjust you sizing for outside if you want you shade to cover entire opening. I ordered 33.5 for the inside of my window and they fit perfectly as I measured the inside. Love these blinds very easy to en stall.

"I bought 2 72" shades. The directions are not very thorough. There parts in the box that are not mentioned in the directions - small clear plastic triangular pieces with small screws. There were 3 mounting brackets and the directions said to put one 4" from each end and I assumed the third would go in the middle, but I can't clip the shade to the bracket right in the middle because of part of the "works" inside the shade header are there. Can I get more information about how to install?"

Lynda, regarding the mounting brackets you just have to offset the middle bracket so that it's not in the way of the internal workings. When I mounted my long ones (that required a middle bracket) I just held up the shade and eye-balled the location of the middle so that it was about 1/2" away. Regarding the small clear plastic triagles I believe those are meant to be "hold downs" so that if your shade doesn't fully extend to the sill you can mount those clips (to the sill) to hold down the shade and achieve complete privacy. (that's my best guess; at first I was like "what the hell are these?" haha). Hope this helps!

That will be adequate. That is assuming no part of you window protrudes into that space. For instance, if you have a double hung window, that would project further into the room than the upper sash.
