I'm keeping it but...
I can't say I LOVE this rug. Quality is as I would expect in this price range. It is thick/plush enough. It is shedding since I put it down (mostly thin viscose fibers), but thats not unusual in the beginning.
On appearance, it was a little surprising. First, the scale of the print is bigger than I expected. The big octagons are about 12" in diameter. I'm ok with this, actually I probably prefer it because I was afraid it might appear too busy, but I thought that information would be useful to other buyers.
The color tones were pretty consistent. The interior shapes are a standard grey, no greenish tones. The lines are a different shade of gray, hard to describe, but still no greenish tinge. The white outline is actually a cream or light beige.
What you cannot see in the picture is the effect of the viscose that is mixed with the wool. Viscose has a sheen to it- if you vacuum in one direction it appears light and shiny, if you go in the other direction it appears darker. The viscose is woven in lines about 1/2" apart. The net affect on the color is that it does not appear solid. The best I could describe it is like when you color with crayons all in the same direction. The color appears a little bit striped and you can still see some of the white paper peeking through, or at least variations in the color darkness. Or Jeans that are not died solid dark blue... You can see some of the white cotton and it appears a bit striped because of the weave of the fabric. Thats what this looks like. I don't hate it, it does add some textural interest, but I was expecting solid colors from the picture. It has a less formal feel, maybe a little shabby-chiq, so if you don't like that, you may not like the rug.
My goal for this rug was a) something dark enough to hide some traffic stains etc b) wool for its durability c) colors that would not clash with my silver/gray couch and my light beige walls. This rug does the job, but its not the highlight of the room like my last rug was (that one was 100% viscose and did NOT hold up with time.)
