I don't really know if there's something wrong with my rug that makes it different from all the glowing reviews, but the quality just isn't as high as I expected.
The biggest problem is that this rug is made of thousands of very thin, satiny threads rather than the standard, thick rug yarn - that means the rug has a visually appealing shaggy texture, but it doesn't feel very good on bare feet. When I step on it, it my foot presses down through a thin layer of pile onto the prickly bottom layer, which isn't that great. There's just no body to this rug because the threads are so waifish. It's also quite slippery; I'd be worried about people falling and hurting themselves on this. I'm putting it under a coffee table, so it's not that much of a concern, but I wouldn't set it out in the middle of a room or in a hallway. I was going to put it on the floor next to my bed, but I don't want that prickly uncomfortable foot feel to be the first sensation I have in the morning.
The colors and design are great, though. It does look like the picture, and the texture of the different rings in the rug is very unique. The color gradient is quite lovely. That aspect of the rug is what makes me OK with the idea of keeping it.
Overall, I think the three-star rating says it all. It's just OK, and only because the design is good. I wouldn't have bought it if I'd seen it in person, but Overstock's customer service is so horrendous I'm not going to bother trying to return it. This is the last thing I'll ever buy from Great Offer Stock because I just can't trust the company to properly vet their products for quality. I paid probably 50% too much for this rug, which is a shame. I know that if I mentioned this to customer service, they'd just tell me that someone will get in touch with me in 24 hours and then I'll never hear anything again.
