I was looking for electric tea kettle, used to have Chefs Choice made in Germany,
I evaluated Breville tea maker but ultimately could not bring myself to $250 purchase for the tea maker.
I have gotten to point in life where I don't mind spending more for quality and ultimately it is more frugal to buy appliance which lasts rather than repurchasing every 2 years. I hope this one lasts.
I researched web sites, cooks illustrated, amazon and Great Offer Stock reviews and more or less this item got good reviews with occasional failures in and out of warranty.
Pros: like multiple temp settings, easy to use.
water boils rapidly, some learning curve but now all in family loves it.
Seems easy to clean.
Hope it lasts as it gets multiple daily use.
Cons: made in China, I am always upset when china product because I am not sure their consumer fraud division is up to snuff eg lead in paint and dishes; Also would prefer that money went to American worker and I feel that at $150 product could be made in US with some (albeit lower) profit
I have Breville toaster for several years, generally happy however after 6 months bagel setting light failed, as the button still worked and I did not want to receive rebuilt unit under warranty, I kept it as is.
overall unit performing well and was as advertised on web sites; Great Offer Stock had best price.
