Great piece for the price! I really like this bench. The lid stays up when I lift it and it holds all of the sheets for my bed which cleared up other storage space. The seat is a bit stiff which should change with use but honestly my cat sits on it more than I do. Assembly took minutes and it wasn't so heavy that I needed help getting it up the stairs. The color is very close to what is shown and looks great in my room. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Yes, it seems strong enough for heavy books. You will only be able to see the titles on the outside back of the books from above. If you don't mind pulling a stack of books out to see what's in there, no problem.

Assembly just requires the feet to be inserted. I am 76...was no problem. I use mine at the foot of my bed and store extra bedding in it. Love it!

The cushion is 33 1/2 inches long and 2 inches thick. To be clear, it's a padded hinged cover. It is not a removable cushion like you might find on a sofa or chair.
