This product does measure BMI as advertised.
When I first saw this I was skeptical. The handful of reviews were mixed, I didn't want to spend 20 bucks and then be dealing with a return.

Well, it arrived, I turned it on, and got a low-battery reading. One review on the site stated that the purchaser had received it with dead batteries, spent $6 to get new ones, and was subsequently unsure if the reading was accurate.

So I steeled myself and wrote Great Offer Stock customer service. This is when the tide changed.
<br><br>
OCS was stunningly efficient and helpful. And, in fact ,the manufacturer complied expediently and without badgering me with questions seeking proof of my grievance. Days later, I had new batteries in the mail.
<br><br>
But they didn't work, either. I still got a "low battery" reading. So I found a battery tester, and discovered that both sets carried a charge. So my first complaint was hasty and wrong.
<br><br>
I wrote OCS again. They said since the problem is with the unit, they would seek a full replacement. BANG! They are writing me back, telling me the company is going to send me a new one, and I didn't have to return the defective piece.
<br><br>
So my hat goes off to OCS and again to the manufacturer. Within a few days, I had another unit.
<br><br>
I programmed it with my personal details (ht, weight, etc.) and tested it out.
<br><br>
I am a pretty athletic person, and my muscle composition means that the simple formula of BMI = ( Weight in Kilograms / ( Height in Meters x Height in Meters ) ) does not accurately capture my BMI.
<br><br>
This product gave me a reading that was pretty much exactly where I estimated it would be. I haven't verified it with a caliper measurement, but my hunch is: This thing gives you an accurate reading.
<br><br>
It's super easy to use, the programming and reading of the unit could by done by a monkey, and the results stay on the screen as long as you hold it in your hands.
<br><br>
The instructions are short and also provide guidance for interpreting results.
<br><br>
The lightweight plastic made it feel a little cheap at first, but then again, it is super light and small enough to travel anywhere. If you are a bootcamp instructor, you could tuck it in a backpack, and program in eight different profiles to track your clients.
<br><br>
Finally, I like that you can switch back and forth between metric and imperial, since I use both.

I'm pleased with my purchase. But delighted with Great Offer Stock customer service and that of the vendor!
