She originally wanted a Chi 2" flat iron last year and I searched forever but couldn't find one! Hopefully, she will like this one. My hair stylist uses this brand in her salon and recommended it. I'm happy with the quality and results, but will get a less wide flattening plate next time. It's hard to get close to your roots with the wide plate. Overall happy with the purchase though.

This is an excellent flat iron for thick or curly hair. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have this type of hair.

I bought this straightener out of necessity because the CHI that I had been using for the past ten years died. My best friend uses a BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium on her extremely curly hair and she raves about it, so I trust her opinions over anyone's because her hair is much harder to straighten than mine. Pros: I like the specific variety of temperature settings - there are actual temperature measurements rather than just "low, medium, and high." It heats up quickly and it does a great job straightening. Its larger-sized paddle means that it can do more hair in one swoosh, so the task seems to go more quickly. Cons: Where my CHI had sort of rounded edges, the BaByliss has sharper, square edges - which means it's harder to use it to curl hair. I know, it's not necessarily MEANT to curl hair, but I am crap at using an actual curling iron and with my CHI I could both curl and straighten. You wouldn't think squared edges would make it more difficult, but that combined with the bigger paddle really does, so all I've managed to do so far is straighten. Also: the iron itself gets super hot (duh) and I have found myself burnt more than once just holding the thing too high. Not only that, but I have accidentally turned it off several times with my grip alone - the button seems to be in an inconvenient place. All that being said, these "cons" could actually just be me not adjusting well to the change between the CHI and the BaByliss. When you've done one thing for an entire decade (sob!) and suddenly have to use different equipment, there are bound to be snags, and this might be that type of situation. Really, this product does exactly what it says it's going to do, so if you're JUST looking for a good straightener, I feel confident recommending it.

I have natural curly course hair. While the iron does flat iron my hair, I do not believe it is anything to brag on. I own a cheaper ceramic irons that does a better job than this iron. The titanium plate is smooth and my hair glides through it but it does not straighten my hair as effective as the ceramic plates.

only have to go over my hair once, and it leaves it shiny and soft.
