From the many reviews I've read about the CD P650, I think many people have missed the point of this player. First, it is often erroneously referred to as a "CD recorder" which it is not. What it does do is rip CD files to a flash drive in mp3 format. This player does not excel at this (but only in options and specs of the resulting ripped file.) Mechanically and operationally, it rips just fine. The resulting quality is the issue.
However, I would never use this player for that purpose since good computer CD ripping software offers so many more output options with much better quality.
Where this player excels is in the quality of CD playback. The 24-bit Burr-Brown DAC does a magnificent job of translating songs into accurate, detailed, and wonderfully rich analog sound. I can't believe the quality of the audio compared to a 1-bit DAC found in the typical CD player.
The fact that it comes in a quality, name-brand unit for around *** is astounding. Anyone needing a CD player for a good home audio system would be foolish not to consider this player.
I, for one, am blown away and highly satisfied.
