I searched all over town for a CD car mount for my phone. The type that adhere to the dash or window that are available around here don't work well, consistently. For the price, I wasn't going to be out much if this product had proven to be equally unsatisfactory. I'm glad I took the gamble. I now use it in lieu of all other phone car mounts that I've purchased. I can mount the phone parallel or perpendicular to the dashboard as desired. The image shows my larger phone 3.5" X 6.5" X 5/8" being accommodated. I also use a smaller phone when driving for *** . The initial assembly is easily accomplished. You may need to fiddle with it a few times to position it as you like it, then after that you won't need to. I'm very pleased with this product.
Amended 01/06/16: I discovered this winter that the parts freeze overnight. I suspect it's the lubricant that freezes. Since I'm an *** driver, I leave the mount in place once I've exited the car. After the second time, I had forced the matter and thought I'd broken it. I dismantled it (easy to do) reseated the gears and mechanisms and put it back together. It works fine. I'm careful with it when starting out in the frozen early morning hours. It's best to wait until the car has warmed before using the mount. I still like this well enough that I'm going to purchase another to have on hand as a backup.
