For several years now I have been making fleece blankets for the pediatric care unit at Overlook Hospital. I typically make about fifty blankets which each require two sheets of fleece. Each sheet requires three cuts 36 to 54" long which means 300 cuts. In the past it was a frustrating job cutting this by hand with scissors (very few of which worked well for any time). This rotary cutter makes the work a breeze.
The only problem is what to put under the fabric to avoid marking a table. The solution, the manufacturer sells a cutting board that solves this.
My cutting is now a simple and easy delight. No more hand cramps.
In the past I farmed out the cutting of 1"x6" fringe at each end to the mothers of the kindergarteners that participate in tieing the fringe. This year I am considering doing this myself.
I am now a happy camper!
