I wasn't entirely certain at first who I would give this to when I finished it, as I had several people in mind! I've decided, although now I need to make another one for the runner up! Cute and fun saying, and everyone who saw it in the process of being sewn either wanted it, or knew of someone who would love it!!! I followed the directions pretty much as written, except a few minor modifications. I used half-stitches near edges and borders between colors to fill in each color more fully - I like this more "color saturated" look, and this is my usual method with working cross-stitch projects. There was plenty of floss to complete it. I added more "sprinkles" on those goodies with sprinkles, to give them a more colorful and luxurious look, and added "chocolate chips" (French knots in dark brown) to the cake (cake part, not the frosting) - I really like how they all came out. For the mint, I decided to do the satin stitch and outlining a bit differently - I used 2 strands (not 3) of red for the satin stitch, and satin stitched only to the middle of the blue line - I then outlined the 3 curving red stripe areas with 1 strand in red, to both clean up the satin stitched edges, and to finish filling in those areas - I was concerned it might look odd, or take up too much room and leave the white parts too small, but it didn't - it came out very nice, and retained their curvy shapes!. I really enjoyed this project, and am looking forward to doing it again for my other friend!
