Mr. Monk and the Blue Flu
I
couldn't recommend this book higher!! It is JUST LIKE the television
series.........funny, poignant, interesting and dramatic. I think the
author is excellent, but this particular book is acres above his Mr. Monk
and the Firehouse. There are no ho hum moments....it is pretty fast
paced, and Monk has not lost his touch. In this novel Monk is
temporarily reinstated in the police force and becomes captain ala
Stottlemeyer when Leland and Randy and all the other police go on
strike. Not only do you have Monk doing his usual and unusual, you also
have some new characters who have neuroses of their own. I particularly
liked shootem-up-Wyatt. When Monk gets held hostage, Wyatt threatens to
shoot the abductor right through Monk! Thinking he was nutts enough to
do it, the murder suspect releases Monk and gets arrested!! Anyone who
likes comedy, mystery, suspense AND the Monk television series will
truly enjoy this masterpiece of comedy/suspense/mystery/crime solving.
Plus, after the ending, there's a post script where Monk joins Natalie
at Traffic school that's worth the price of the book right there!!
People who have never even heard of the Monk series may be able to
enjoy it any way......it's hilarious!!
