It's the nature of the fibers. I bought these for my sons who live on their own. I have done theier laundry and they really don't wrinkle like a cotton sheet. I prefer cotton percale but it can get very wrinkled. These are also soft and cool! P.S I did not notice and chemical smell with the sheets. If you like a microfiber sheet your gonna like these.
