Ok guys, Im 250 LBS and have Bulging disk in my L4, L5, and S1 vertebrae in my lower back, I purchased a *** Name Brand Temper Pedic Cloud Lux, (google it) king memory foam matress 4 years ago. It was supposed to be the end to my back pain when waking up in the morning. I truly believe it made it worse. The mattress did not give enough and my lower back never sunk into the bed to give lumber support to my lower back during the night. Its kind of like having a high arch in your foot with no arch support causing the arch of your foot to stay suspended in air all day with nothing offering support on it. That translates to pain!!! Now, I purchased this Select Luxury Ulitmate comfort 4 inch Medium firm gel memory foam topper and actually put it on top of the Temper Pedic mattress. WOW!!!!!! I told my wife, I actually just sunk into the matress like your suppose to and received the back support I have been needing for the last five years during the night. I could feel my butt sink in and then the curve of my lower back had total support as it curved up and over the top of the mattress. I woke up the first morning with seriously little to no pain at all. Last night was the second night and I woke up this morning with really no pain to speak of. I can wait until tomorrow morning to see if its totally gone. I highly recommend this topper. Its worth every penny and has alleviated my back issues in the morning. Oh and im not just saying i have back issues. I have the MRI to prove it. Diagnosis: Early onset degenerative spinal disease. Im delaying surgery as long as I can and I truly believe this topper is going to help me prolong it even more. If there is one thing I would have maybe done different it would have been to purchase the softer topper one step below the medium firm. I think Im going to purchase that one for my Lake Cabin and see if it makes even more difference.

Best buy for the money I wish there was another middle choice besides "Average comfort" because this product is VERY comfortable. Not overly firm and not smooshy soft. I had been shopping for months trying to decide between getting a new mattress or trying a 4" mattress topper when I saw this product. I didn't want one that looked like a foamy egg crate and typically anything with depth to it was egg crate like. This product is half gel memory foam and half tempra type foam. Arrived very compact. My teenage son and I placed it on the bed and allowed it to expand for about 4-5 days before dressing the bed and laying on it. I was very surprised that there was not an over powering chemical smell during the expansion process. Able to dress the bed without difficulty with sheets that fit up to a 15 inch mattress. The mattress I placed this upon was not shot but starting to sag slightly in one spot. So I flipped it and applied this topper. Great result and very comfortable. Plus I saved a lot of money because I didn't have to buy a new quality pillow top mattress.

nice but too soft This mattress topper sounded great as it was stated to be medium firm and was 4" high. The reality is that it is pretty soft and now I realize that I should have been looking at the density numbers for these toppers. This one is only 2.5 so now I just purchased another one that is 3.8 that I can layer to make it what I wanted in the first place.

Comfortable! My husband has RA and our regular mattress, although comfortable, was just easy on his joints. I bought this memory foam topper hoping to help him with is pain at night & it did the job! I followed the instructions & let it 'rest' for 72 hours to completely fill out. Also there was a slight chemical odor but after the required 72 hours the smell had dissipated & the topper was ready to use. VERY pleased with it and at such a great price!
