My fiancé and I both suffer from back and hip pain. There are many nights I can't sleep and wake up hurting worse than I did before going to bed. We have a king sized mattress that's about 10 years old and were considering replacing it, but weren't looking forward to spending thousands. We decided to give this topper a try, after going on a cruise for a week and sleeping on a thin foam topper, which eased some of our discomfort.
The box is extremely heavy, about 60 pounds. Once I wrestled it out and onto our guest bed I unfolded it and let it sit for about 12 hours. I didn't do it directly onto our king bed, because I thought it would take overnight to expand fully. I didn't notice any strong scent to it, as others have experienced. Moving it from the guest room to our bedroom was a feat. We folded it and walked down the hall, but it is extremely heavy and soft, so unfortunately there was a bit of tearing underneath, where I was struggling to hold on to it.
We got it onto the bed and covered it with a bamboo mattress cover to keep cool, as I heard memory foam can be very hot. We used our sheets over the mattress cover. It doesn't move around at all or require adjusting.
Oh my gosh is it comfortable! It's like sleeping on a marshmallow. You just sink in, but not so far that you touch the actual mattress. Even though it is soft, it's still supportive. I sleep right through the night now and almost never hurt in the morning. If I do wake up a bit stiff, it's gone quickly. It's like night and day! My fiancé has had the same experience. He suffers from mild insomnia and now gets much more sleep, plus his pain is greatly reduced. Well worth the price!
I will say that I'm not sure it is true memory foam. If you press your hand into it, the indent doesn't last at all, but almost immediately puffs back up. Perhaps I have unrealistic expectations, but that's the only negative that comes to mind. I will say we can no longer feel one another move, so that's a memory foam characteristic that it does have.
