I was in disbelief that a featherbed could actually be 5" tall. This one is. (At least until you put pressure on it.) Due to a learning lesson - which I'll explain below - I found that if you truly want 5" of feathers underneath you, you'll need to stack two of these (which actually isn't a bad idea).
This isn't my first rodeo, so I know to fluff the featherbed every day when I make the bed. This keeps the air in between the feathers and keeps the featherbed even and comfortable every night. If you don't want to take this step, you don't want a featherbed. Keep in mind, the featherbed is heavy. If you don't want to lift anything heavy, you don't want this featherbed.
As for the learning lesson, I think that's what the bulk of complaints are about in these reviews. It's sizing. Included in this featherbed "set" is a cover. While the featherbed itself is the exact size of the bed (king, in our case), the cover is the wrong size. (The cover actually gave us the width of a queen-sized bed.) It took ordering the set THREE times (sadly for both the environment and for our UPS driver, Great Offer Stock will not just ship the cover) - and finally receiving the cover directly from the manufacturer - to get the right size cover. And you will want the cover to minimize feathers poking through, which is most unpleasant when you're trying to relax.
So, keep that in mind. It's a great featherbed, but you might have to go through a lot of hassle to get the right cover for it.
