Michele, yes they do in fact get softer. But remember, the higher the thread count, the tighter the sheet is, and thicker feeling, if that makes any sense. And they are a much better quality. Now the sateen sheets are where you're going to get that nice soft feel right away, and you're also going to pay the price for it. I personally love these sheets. And I also love the sateen sheets. Ostock has wonderful $'g on them as well, and the higher $tag is well worth it. Hope this helped. :D

My mattress is also about 14 inches and the fitted sheet works but doesn't quite cover completely. The flat sheet is not nearly wide enough to tuck in - several inches short.

It will be loose, so think about investing in the plastic holders that attach to the ribbing of the binding on the mattress. These are beautiful sheets and our mattress is 15" so they fit nicely, but I know exactly what you'll run into with a 13" mattress.

First, let me say these sheets are a great quality. Now to your question, my bottom sheet comes off every night, I have to re tuck into position every morning when I get out of bed. The elastic band that goes around the entire bottom sheet is not stron enough to keep it in the correct position, only my opinion.

I have never heard of an "eastern" king mattress. We have a king pillow top which needs at least a 15" pocket for the corners and this product has that. The top sheet is larger than most sets and it was one of the reasons I chose this set as I don't like to have a short drop on the top sheet. Not knowing what you mean by "eastern" I cannot say with a doubt that it will fit, but I would be 95% sure it would. This sheet set is one of the best I've ever purchased and highly recommend it.

I believe an Eastern King is the same as a regular King. A California King is longer and more narrow than the standard King size. A King is more "Square" and I do believe an Eastern King would be just a King size.

Honestly if you are looking for extra pilow cases you should consider this sheet set, comes with extra pillow cases and is not a cotton blend but 100% cotton. I purchased these and they do go over my queen pillow top mattress. (14 " high) I could use at least 2 more inches of mattress, as such,, they are a little big for the mattress on my bed. But I love them! I would suggest that you measure the height of your mattress and feather topper. These sheets are 18" deep.

this has a fitting at the corners. The sheets are for deep mattresses. I have a deep mattress but this will fit even deeper. It does fit loose on the bed. I always buy high thread count but wasn't real happy with these because of these sheets being so rough to the touch.
